(*) ...Ravel once said that its title is meaningless, but elsewhere he also commented that it is "an evocation of a pavane that a little princess might, in former times, have danced at the Spanish court"...

NOTE ON THE MUSIC OF THE »GARDENS« PROJECT:
The music of »Gardens« is conceived not only as base for improvisation and meditation, but also as soundtrack for cinematographic works and audiobooks, for the development of cinematographic and theatrical scripts, of contemporary dance choreography, of reworkings of non-contemporary dances, of art installations of videos and / or of sounds and / or of lights, of exhibitions of performance art, of tableaux vivants, of gymnastic disciplines and of any form of performative art, that is, not only dance, music and theater, but also illusionism, mime, marionette and puppet theater and circus art.
Conceived in imitation of nature, the music of »Gardens« is like a river, always equal to itself but always changing, on whose banks to lie down without expecting anything.

MUSICAL FORM:
»Ancient Garden«'s 176 albums featuring MASSIMO RESTIFO PECORELLA are divided into 8 cycles of 22 albums each. This album is part of the first cycle and its form is called »2020 Edition«: it is based on the almost perfect numbers and the sum of their proper divisors.

NOTE ON THE »GARDENS« PROJECT:
Musical and then multimedia transposition project of DUCCIO DEMETRIO's 28 Symbolic Gardens from »Di che giardino sei? Conoscersi attraverso un simbolo | What's Your Garden? Self-knowledge through a Symbol«, in which the intimate relationship with nature becomes self-knowledge. Musical transposition realized with a first process, radicalized with musical pictography, of progressive reduction of scores of the past to the dot and the line; organized in »Books for Change«, which derive, by varying them, conception and denomination from the translation of the »I-Ching« by JOHN BLOFELD. Multimedia transposition that begins where the compositional process ends up revealing the bare structure and intrinsic beauty of the musical scores. Evocative appeal to technology among magical thoughts in the forest of PRALADRIT, which welcomes and informs a project, which is the daily exercise of a path aimed at the essential, which began with the literal renunciation by its main author of all unnecessary material goods and largely developed with obsolete technological means although in dialogue with AI.

CONCEPT OF »THE FLUVIAL GARDEN« FROM THE PROJECT'S WORK PLAN.
drive.google.com/drive/folders/1lILma3TZd-DZUH1M05Nn31iyFnFtR6L3?usp=sharing
Age-old plants, twisted roots, shady rooms invaded by ivy, pergolas overloaded with vines; the air is full of oppressive scents, nature becomes one with the house that it surrounds. It is the garden of elapsed time, the mythical place of voices, which now exist only in memory, where one penetrates as in a shrine, looking for clues…
It is the garden of those who need to reconcile past and present and to know themselves through the history of those who were the roots of their existence. They will rediscover the lost peace by going back in time, perhaps by writing about themselves to a recipient, who is no longer or who has never existed.
